Joining the Dots’ RSGB National Analysts Conference

Returns to London on 5th March 2019

Joining the Dots is the national conference for the road safety data analyst community and is hosted by Road Safety GB. The conference, which will be organised by Road Safety GB in partnership with Agilysis, has now become established as an annual event and will return for 2019 with the theme ‘The Transformative Power of Data’

From international experts on attitudinal data to the growing role of data science in UK road transport, this year’s conference will give delegates new tools, techniques and insights that could transform their work

Jeremy Phillips, Research Director, RSGB

The program of the day will focus on industry hot topics such as Data Science and Behaviour Change and showcase projects and initiatives from leading national and international authorities and experts in their field.

The event examines a wide pool of data sets and analytical approaches; going beyond the data itself to understand how insight enhances the work of the entire highways sector. A presentation on a study produced for Liverpool City Council will demonstrate how partnership working and supplementary data was used to enrich STATS19 analysis and understand why dangerous behaviours were occurring.

There will be a chance to hear how data on the opinions, attitudes, and behaviour of road users concerning road safety and mobility is being used to provide scientific evidence for policy making at the national and international levels with a presentation from Wouter Van den Berghe on the Global ESRA initiative.

The conference will welcome the winner of the International Transport Forum’s 2018 young researcher of the year, Dr George Ursachi, who will showcase how his creative use of data was used to improve public policy.

Our ambition for these conferences remains one of influencing and supporting the work of both data client and data analyst - and I’m confident each will find a great deal of value on the 2019 agenda.

Jeremy Phillips, Research Director, RSGB

With content to include the latest developments and updates in national and international road assessment programmes, transport safety, collision investigation and improving evidence and online reporting, Joining the Dots is set to sell out for the 4th year running.
